I’m a small-animal surgeon (MANZCVS, Small Animal Surgery) providing advanced orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery within general veterinary practices across Wide Bay, Fraser Coast, the Sunshine Coast and greater South-East Queensland.

My work is focused on technically demanding procedures that might otherwise be referred, allowing practices to expand the surgical care they can provide while maintaining continuity for their patients and clients.

I developed much of my surgical experience while running a general practice on the Atherton Tablelands, where specialist referral was often impractical. Managing a high volume of complex surgical cases in a regional setting required developing practical solutions to difficult problems, supported by regular surgical training, workshops and consultation with specialist surgeons.

After selling my practice, I consolidated that experience through further formal study and attained Membership of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Small Animal Surgery.

Just as importantly, seven years as a practice owner gave me a practical understanding of what it actually takes to deliver advanced surgery within general practice. I understand the pressures on veterinarians and nurses, the difficulty of coordinating owners, equipment, anaesthesia and theatre time, and the additional workload that bringing an external surgeon into a practice can create.

Stifle Surgeons has been built around that experience. The aim is not simply to arrive and perform an operation, but to anticipate those barriers and make the entire surgical process easier for the practice to manage.

Outside work I’m a keen cyclist, telemark skier and traveller, and father of two energetic boys. I own a red Kelpie named Roy and a red Kombi named Gavin.
